Azure-rumped Tanager (Tangara cabanisi) is restricted to the Pacific slope highlands of Guatemala and Chiapas, Mexico. The species lives in humid broadleaf forests at elevations of 900-1900 m. The species has been reported from 16 sites in Guatemala. CAYAYA BIRDING staffers were leading a recent study by the PROEVAL RAXMU Bird Monitoring Program on the distribution, habitat use, nesting ecology, vocalizations, and juvenile plumage of Azure-rumped Tanager in Guatemala.
